In the next few sessions we’ll be covering Deep Learning, a subject that has been gaining a lot of attention lately.
We will be following the review of Yoshua Bengio –
The first discussion will cover an introduction and motivation to the subject. The relevant chapters are 1-2.
In the next group discussion, on 19/12, we will go “deeper” into the subject and try to cover the rest of the chapters of the review.
The IEEE trans. on audio, speech and language proc. dedicated a special section (in Jan.2012 volume) to deep learning for speech recognition. This Microsoft’s research paper was published there: http://research.microsoft.com/apps/pubs/default.aspx?id=144412
There are more papers on deep learning in Microsoft Speech group’s website: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/groups/srg/papers.aspx
